Miss Martin & Mrs Ferguson

Welcome to Britta Teckentrup Class!

Spring Term

During this term we have been learning about The Great Fire of London. We have been ordering the events of the fire, exploring the diary of Samuel Pepys and looking at the differences between London from then to now. We recently enjoyed having a visitor in school who delivered a fun workshop and showed us how to write using a quill.

In English, we have been learning the story of Kassim and the Greedy Dragon. We have been using similies to describe the setting of a cave and thinking of our own settings for a new story.

In Maths, we have been learning about the value of different coins and notes. We have been adding coins to make an amount and have been learning to compare amounts of money.

In our PSHE lessons, we have been working hard as part of a team. We worked together to design and create a colourful dream bird.

Autumn Term

During our English lessons we have been writing stories and letters based upon 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. We have been working hard to use conjunctions to join our sentences. In Maths, we have been partitioning numbers into tens and ones. We have also been learning to add and subtract two digit numbers.

Our topic this term has been 'Jambo!'. We have been learning about Kenya and locating human and physical features. We recently had lots of fun taking part in an African drumming workshop. In Art, we have been learning about the artist, Kandinsky. We have used paint and oil pastels to recreate his artwork. We have also been learning to sketch landscapes.
