Welcome to Onjali Q Rauf Class

History/English

This term, we have been learning all about World War 2 and the children have been amazed at some of the things that we have discovered.

We have written diary entries as an evacuee, newspaper reports on the Blitz and an information text. The children have been learning to use direct and indirect speech, how to punctuate main and subordinate clauses and how to use parenthesis to add more information to their writing.

RE - Judaism

Linked to our WW2 topic, we have been learning about the beliefs within Judaism, the importance of the Torah and some of their important celebrations. We have written a letter describing Simchat Torah and the children created their own invitations to a Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah celebration.

Whole Class Reading

Within our whole class reading lessons, we have been reading The Lion and the Unicorn and Rose Blanche as both of these books are linked to our WW2 topic. We have been working hard on reading our text with fluency, pace and relevant expression.
