Year 4 – Mrs Smith/Mrs Bell

Dear Parents and Carers,

Here is our Topic web for this Spring Term 2021.

This is another busy term for us at Somerset Bridge, whether your child is working from home or in school. Reading at home is vitally important to your child – some form of reading with them every day will make a difference to their attainment at school.  PE lessons will take place in school and, for those who are at home, there is a link on the weekly timetable.

Thank you for your continued support during this period of lockdown.

Mrs Bell and Mrs Smith

Well done Year 4.  We are very impressed with the effort you have put into your home learning.  Google classroom is a learning curve for us all but I think you'll agree it has made a vast difference to teaching and learning taking place this lockdown.  Mrs Smith joins you this week and is really looking forward to seeing you all.  Below is this week's timetable:

Spring Term - Homelearning with Google Classrooms

We have had an amazing start to our Home Learning using Google Meet and all the children attending have been brilliantly behaved and worked very hard. We are still learning as teachers and still working through the teething problems so thank you for your patience while we get things up and running.

How to use Google Classroom for parents! In this video parents and guardians will learn everything they need to know in order to best support their students ...

Dear Petra class,

Mrs Smith and I are working really hard to prepare some work for you during the national lockdown, including meetings on Google Classrooms.  You can find the meet link on your Google classroom stream – this link will not change, and you can use it whenever we have a meeting scheduled. It will look like this at the top of the page:

We have prepared a timetable for you to follow and attend the daily Google Meet meetings.  This timetable is on our Google Classrooms page and we have put a copy below. It is really important you attend these meetings where we will be taking a daily register. Our first meeting will be at 9.30am tomorrow morning (Wednesday 6th January)

As before, you can use the following link on the school webpage, which will provide lots of other amazing links and activities for you to work on, if you need some more support.

We are both well and hope that you and your families keep safe during this period of quarantine.

Petra Christmas Carol

Wonderful Christmas Time

Remembrance Day 2020

This year the class listened to and recited the wonderful, thought provoking poem 'In Flanders Field'.

In science we have been looking at sound, how it is created and how it travels to the ear. We did an experiment with rice and drums to see what happens to the vibrations as the sound gets louder.

In math's we have been looking at place value, the bar model, exchanging and regrouping. This is tricky but the children have picked it up really well.

Hello everyone in Y4.

We hope you have had a super holiday and enjoyed some of the fantastic weather we had.  We are really looking forward to seeing you on Monday 7th September.  When you get into the cloakroom, you will find your name above a peg for you to put your coat on.  Please put your lunch box in the plastic box under the bench.  In your classroom, you will see many things that you recognise like a visual timetable, the days of the week, birthday candles and there will be a drawer with your name on it.

Miss Tall is the other adult working in our class and I know she is looking forward to seeing you again too.

See you on Monday!

Mrs Smith and Mrs Bell
