Year 2 – Miss Martin

Summer Term

This term we have been learning about The Great Fire of London. We wrote a diary entry, created a timeline and created some artwork about the fire. We have also been learning about animals and we each wrote a report about sharks. In English, we have been writing our own portal stories and working hard to include lots of description. In Maths, we have been learning to find fractions of objects, shapes and quantities. We have also been using the column method to add and subtract numbers.

Dear Sahara Desert class,

Mr Staveley and I are working really hard to prepare some work for you on Google Classrooms.  You can find the meet link on your Google classroom stream at the top of the page – this link will not change, and you can use it whenever we have a meeting scheduled.

We have prepared a timetable for you to follow and attend the daily Google Meet meetings.  It is really important you attend these meetings where we will be taking a daily register.

As before, you can use the following link on the school webpage, which will provide lots of other amazing links and activities for you to work on, if you need some more support.

We hope that you and your families keep safe during this period of quarantine. If you have any questions please contact the teacher through the home learning e mail,

Miss Martin

Merry Christmas From Sahara Desert Class

We have been learning makaton and have signed the song 'We Wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year'.
We have been working hard to partition numbers into tens and ones. We have also been learning to add and subtract numbers.
We have been having lots of fun learning to retell stories. We have also been working very hard to write sentences using capital letters, full stops and question marks.
We have designed and made colourful carnival masks using sequins and feathers. We also made top hats when learning about Isambard Kingdon Brunel.
