Year 1 – Mr Ryder

We are Canyon Class.

Froglets and Tadpoles - I am please to say that all of the froglets and tadpoles survived the journey from the school to my house. They are all doing fine and I have added photos below.

Pe - We were really excited to have an extra PE session. Two representatives from Somerset County Cricket Club came in and ran a free cricket session with the class. it was great fun and the children really enjoyed the session.

English - In our English lesson we have been learning about writing instructions. In this lesson we followed some instructions to make magic fruit Kebabs! The children had a lot of fun preparing, making and eating them.

Computing - In Computing the children have been learning how to add text and how to add images to a document. They had a lot of fun learning how to change the font size and how to add images and make them larger or smaller.

Here is some of the work children in Canyon Class have been doing.

Dear Grand Canyon class,

Miss White and I are working really hard to prepare some work for you on Google Classrooms.  You can find the meet link on your Google classroom stream at the top of the page – this link will not change, and you can use it whenever we have a meeting scheduled.

We have prepared a timetable for you to follow and attend the daily Google Meet meetings.  It is really important you attend these meetings where we will be taking a daily register.

As before, you can use the following link on the school webpage, which will provide lots of other amazing links and activities for you to work on, if you need some more support.

We hope that you and your families keep safe during this period of quarantine. If you have any questions please contact the teacher through the home learning e mail,  ks1learning.sbp@educ.somerset.

Take care,

Mr Ryder

To explore more about the Grand Canyon, we painted a large picture of the landscape for the display in the school corridor. We researched some of the wildlife found in the Grand Canyon. This included the Mexican Spotted Owl and the Ringed Tailed Cats and Big Horned Sheep.

Canyon Class Signing Video

We have been learning how to sign the Christmas song a 'White Christmas'. Here is a video of our performance.

Autumn Term

This term we have had lots of fun learning how to use Beebot robots and discovering how to program them to move forwards and backwards and left and right. Also, working out how to de-bug a program when it doesn't work.

A selection of fun Art. The children have been enjoying creating pictures of different people. You might recognise some of the characters!
