Year 1 – Miss White

We are Angel Falls Class!

Sports Day 2021

What a fun day we all had! Everyone took part and tried their best in all their events. Well done to the Dolphins who were overall winners.

Summer Term 1

What a busy few weeks we've had in Angel Falls Class! We have LOVED our topic of the Great Fire of London and have become experts in all the events of the fire. We've also been interested in learning about London: it's buildings and who lives there.

In English, we have been learning all about instructions and very much enjoyed following instructions to make our own fruit kebabs. They were delicious!

We have also been VERY active this half term. We have been enjoying our PE sessions with Mr Croker but have loved the extra opportunities we've had in cricket and skipping.

Since Easter, we have been observing carefully our new members of our class - our tadpoles. We have loved watching them change and this week, we finally saw a tiny frog sitting on the rock!

Miss Mitchell has now taken them home over the holiday and will release them when they are fully grown.

Please see below our overview of learning for the spring term. We hope you will find it useful and give you an insight into our topic, 'Grow It.'

Dear Angel Falls class,

Mr Ryder and I are working really hard to prepare some work for you on Google Classrooms.  You can find the meet link on your Google classroom stream at the top of the page – this link will not change, and you can use it whenever we have a meeting scheduled.

We have prepared a timetable for you to follow and attend the daily Google Meet meetings.  It is really important you attend these meetings where we will be taking a daily register.

As before, you can use the following link on the school webpage, which will provide lots of other amazing links and activities for you to work on, if you need some more support.

We hope that you and your families keep safe during this period of quarantine. If you have any questions please contact the teacher through the home learning e mail,

Miss White

We'd like to wish you all a very merry Christmas!

We have learnt to sign the Christmas song, 'Christmas Counts'. Watch and enjoy a clip of this; we hope you enjoy it!

Autumn Term 2020

What a fantastic term we have had in Year 1! The children have been learning HUGE amounts and have made a great start to Year 1. Find out what we have been up to on our class page.
We have been learning how to make and write our own program to move a Beebot around a map. We have used words like forwards, backwards, left and right to direct the Beebot. We have even learnt how to debug the Beebot. We had lots of fun working with them.
Mr Croker taught us how to play Boccia; a throwing game played in the paralympics. We enjoyed playing it and got better at our throwing.
In English, we have been persuading someone to buy the third little pig's house. We have been using adjectives and prepositions to describe other amazing houses: Rapunzel's tower, Gruffalo's cave and Cinderella's castle.
