Wilberforce Class - Miss Lockwood

Picture 1

Congratulations to all of the children in Wilberforce Class, who have been awarded Master Class status on the Accelerated Reader programme!  To achieve this, we have read for an average of 25 minutes a day, scored over 85% on quizzes and read independently more than 90% of the time.  We are now on the Honour Roll on the Renaissance Learning website (see June 21st).  For more details, visit their website at http://www.renlearn.co.uk/honour-roll/

Sugar Loaf

The children had a fantastic time climbing Sugar Loaf mountain in the Brecon Beacons.  Well done Year 4!

Amazing Amazon

During the spring term, we will be finding out about the Amazon rainforest.  We will look at the countries in the tropics and find out about the layers of the rainforest.  We will also do some step-by-step drawings of rainforest animals.  Later in the term, we will visit the Eden Project in Cornwall.

In PE, we have tried badminton and played ball games.
In the Autumn term, we found out All About Bridgwater.
Brick and Tile Museum
In October, we walked to the Brick and Tile museum.  We walked along the canal and saw some of the sights that Bridgwater offers.  At the museum, we found out how tiles were made and designed our own.

Accelerated Reader
This year, we are using a new reading scheme to help us improve our comprehension.  Every week we are aiming to read a book and score more than 85%.  Currently, our class has a pass rate of 90.6% and we have read more than 4,000,000 words!
