The summer holidays are a great time to take off to new places , escape to a faraway land and meet some new friends - all from the comfort of your own home. Reading gives children the opportunity to improve their reading fluency , expand their vocabulary and learn more about the world around them. The Summer Reading Challenge gives children all this and more for free!  This year, we will be rewarding  ALL children who complete the challenge, with a book of their choice to keep. Just bring your certificate  back to school in September to claim your prize.

Well done to those of you who have already signed up to this year's challenge. It's not too late - you can still sign up now to get reading over the summer holiday. Help on how to sign up can be found on an additional document below. Get involved and enjoy all your reading adventures!

Final Class Zoom sessions

The final class zoom sessions for the year will take place next week (w/b 13/7/20.) This is a chance for the children to say ‘goodbye’ to each other and their teacher before the summer break and to meet their new teacher.

We would like to give as many children as possible the opportunity to attend. Invitations will be sent to regular attenders as normal but if you would like to join in, you can request an invitation through the key stage e mails.

Some classes have made a slight change to their usual times – please see below:

DiCaprio class Zoom - MONDAY 3:20-3:50

Hillary Class Zoom – TUESDAY 3:15-3:45

Armstrong class Zoom – WEDNESDAY 3:45-4:15

Windsor class Zoom – THURSDAY 2:45-3:15

We hope to see you there!

As we approach the end of the school year, we would like to collect back into school any reading books you may still have lingering at home. If you have any books borrowed from our school library or books that your child has used from our reading scheme or Accelerated Reader, please bring them back to school before the end of term . There is no need to come into school; there will be a book drop box positioned outside the school office.
Please can you add a note inside with your child's name on so we can check off the returns we receive.
We  thank you for your help with this.

We hope to see as many of you there as possible to see your teachers and your friends.

Last week, we asked you to send in your work on a specific day. From now on, you can send it to us when you have finished it, whenever you like! We really want to see what more of you have been doing at home. At home, you should be:

  • Reading and quizzing on Accelerated Reader everyday
  • Practising your spellings
  • Practising the grammar activities
  • Using Times Table Rockstars
  • Getting creative!

The Learning Projects on the school website are there to engage you in this learning at home. We expect to see something from everyone in our classes, sent in to the key stage learning e mail address each week. Send something you have done at home to us when you have finished it. We will reply and upload your work to the school website. Please include the class name and year group in the subject of your email. If you do not give permission for your child’s picture to be on the school website, please let us know.

Send your work to Mr Staveley here:

Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 and 6) –

Even though you are at home, keeping up with your learning is very important so that when you do come back to school, you are ready for the next step.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Friday 12th June 2020

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all well and staying safe! Please see below for this week's Learning Project which is all about 'The Rainforest.' There are lots of great activities and challenges on there for you to try including a deforestation poster, a great writing activity using 'The Alchemist's Letter’ and some fantastic writing challenges based on Sir Walter Raleigh’s mission across the Atlantic Ocean in search of a place called El Dorado!

Look out for some new, additional Maths activities from Oak Academy. I’ve attached information on how to access these. For Year 5, there are five lessons on Decimals and for Year 6, five lessons on Fractions. Each lesson has an initial quiz, a video to watch, a worksheet to complete and a final quiz. Each Friday, I will upload the next lessons, so don't be tempted to complete any more than the ones I've suggested for this week!

There are also spelling lists for each year group.  It is more important than ever that you keep learning and I look forward to seeing more of your home learning next week!

Enjoy your weekends!

Take care and stay safe,

Mr Staveley
