Mrs Smith and Mrs Bell – Windsor Class
Home Learning Update
Dear Parents/Carers,
As some children will be returning to school on June 2nd, the way home learning is being provided will be changing due to most staff working with children in school.
Home learning projects will continue to be uploaded to the school website on a weekly basis and will now be for specific key stages, rather than year groups: Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2), Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4) and Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 and 6).
Instead of logging onto a specific class page to access the home learning, you will now need to go to the Children menu on the website – Home Learning Projects and select the relevant key stage for your child.
We will continue to use the key stage email addresses, but these may not be answered from your child’s teacher. The following teachers will respond to the emails:
Reception and Year 1 and 2 - Miss White
Year 3 and 4 - Mrs Palmer (Mr Staveley will continue to respond to any Nightingale emails)
Year 5 and 6 - Mr Staveley
It has been lovely to receive some of the children’s work, but we now ask that the home learning email addresses are no longer used for sending in children’s work. The named teachers will be available only for questions regarding the work set.
Key Stage 2 will no longer be setting weekly mymaths tasks, but please continue to use Times Tables Rockstars and Accelerated Reader. There will also be no weekly spelling lists for classes. Please use the spelling tasks on each of the weekly projects to support practicing specific sounds and letter patterns alongside year group common exception words.
Thank you for continuing to support you child/children with their home learning.
Many thanks
Spot the staff babies
It's half term so we thought you might like a fun activity to do. In the first attached document you will see pictures of 29 of our staff as babies. In the second document you will see the names of the staff. Can you match the names to the correct staff pictures? Look back here on Friday 29th May to check how many you got right. Good luck!

Zooming news!
After last week’s successful class Zoom meeting, we would like to offer you the opportunity to meet with your classmates each week using Zoom. The meetings will take place every Tuesday at 2pm.
The meetings will last for about 30 minutes. There will be a different focus of each meeting. This week will be on Somerset Day (which is on Monday). Can we ask you to make or draw us a dragon to share and show during our meeting?
We already have many of your email addresses and will send an invitation out to you on Monday’s. If you haven’t emailed us already and you would like to join in with a meeting you need to ask your parents to send an email to LKS2learning.sbp@educ.somerset.gov.uk we will then send them an invitation to join in. Don’t forget that the same rules apply!
At the meeting you will need to know that:
· The meeting must not be recorded.
· You will need to think carefully about where you are when you join the meeting and what you are wearing so that you are ready to meet with all of your classmates.
· Your parents need to be present in the room where you have the meeting.
· Teachers will lock the meeting once everyone has joined so that no-one can join who hasn’t been invited.
· Teachers will be able to remove or mute people who do not follow the rules.
· Parents need to read Zoom’s terms and conditions, so they are sure of what Zoom is all about.
Hopefully see you there!

Hello Windsor class!
We have a new email account so that you can contact us directly, and we can respond! You might have a question, or maybe you just want to show us something - perhaps it will be a photo of something you've made, or a powerpoint you've done, or a diary of your day, or even a story you've written ... surprise us!
Here is the email address. Please put 'Mrs Bell and Mrs Smith' in the subject, when you get in touch.
LKS2learning.sbp@educ.somerset.gov.uk
Each week we'll be asking you to send us a piece of work based on that week's Learning Project. This week it will be something to do with animals. We can't wait to see all your work! Please send us an email of something you have completed that you are proud of.
We look forward to hearing from you.
17th April
Good afternoon Windsor class,
We hope you've had a lovely week - whether you've taken a little schoolwork 'holiday' or kept going!
We've been having a look at our whole class heat map (shown below), and noticed that as a class we're not as fast as we should be with our basic times tables - 2s, 5s, and 10s! These should definitely not take us over 5 seconds to answer, so we'd like you to concentrate on them for the next week!
We would like you to have a look at your own heat map on TT Rockstars - you can find this on the Me tab. When you look at it, you might find that you have some green in the 2s, 5s and 10s - but if you have any orange or red, you need to practise these and get faster! When you are in TTRockstars, if you practise in Garage, you might not have any of these particular tables to practise, so remember to visit the Studio regularly and Soundcheck once a week.
To practise, go to Hit the Button and click Times Tables - then choose whichever one you need to practise most. You should practise with finding the answer AND finding the question for real fluency. You can also do these offline - writing down some questions for someone in your family to test you!
Galileo have challenged us to a TT tournament next week - starting at 9am on Monday and finishing at 3pm on Friday - do your best! We will be cheering you on!
Stay safe and take care of yourselves and your families.

Hello Windsor class,
We hope you are all enjoying the Easter holidays and finding the time to get out in the sunshine. This week's learning is all about being creative! We hope you are taking the time to have a break too!
Stay safe if you are out and about and remember to keep your distance.

Week beginning Monday 6th April
Hi to everyone in Windsor class. We are now in week 3 of this very strange time. How are you all finding it? I know I am using this time to do lots of fun activities with my family. We have been baking, building dens, painting and spending lots of time outside. My children are using this time to learn new skills such as becoming better on their skateboards and scooters but also to bond with each other. It is rare that we get all this quality time together and we are loving it. Well done with your home learning too. It can be hard to adjust during a time like this but you are doing great! You too parents!
Hi to everyone from Mrs Smith and Mrs Bell. These are very strange times but we are very proud of how you are coping and staying positive. We are hope you are enjoying the sunshine and learning lots of new things. Enjoy this quality time with your family and stay safe.

In Maths we have been doing column multiplication and learning how to regroup. Another term for regrouping is carrying.
English
In English, we have started a new unit, Rags to Riches. Today we came into class to discover we'd had a visitor over night! We don't know who it is but he or she left us clues. We have completed a report for our Mini Police.
