Mrs Palmer – Picasso Class
Thursday 4th June
Hello Picasso class, I hope you are all well and enjoyed your half term. We were so lucky with the sunshine that week! I just wanted to let you know that even though you are not being asked to send in work, I am still here. I am creating and uploading the learning projects for you, checking my emails regularly and seeing how you are all getting on with AR.
I know we are not having Zoom meetings, but please use the LKS2 email to ask me any questions about the home learning as I would like to know if I can help in any way.
Well done to Maisie, Lenka, Dorka, Lacey, Filip and Brooke who have taken AR quizzes in the last few weeks. If you have not taken one for a while, please make sure you are continuing to read daily and quiz.
From Mrs Palmer
Home Learning Update
As some children will be returning to school on June 2nd, the way home learning is being provided will be changing due to most staff working with children in school.
Home learning projects will continue to be uploaded to the school website on a weekly basis and will now be for specific key stages, rather than year groups: Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2), Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4) and Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 and 6).
Instead of logging onto a specific class page to access the home learning, you will now need to go to the Children menu on the website – Home Learning Projects and select the relevant key stage for your child.
We will continue to use the key stage email addresses, but these may not be answered from your child’s teacher. The following teachers will respond to the emails:
Reception and Year 1 and 2 - Miss White
Year 3 and 4 - Mrs Palmer (Mr Staveley will continue to respond to any Nightingale emails)
Year 5 and 6 - Mr Staveley
It has been lovely to receive some of the children’s work, but we now ask that the home learning email addresses are no longer used for sending in children’s work. The named teachers will be available only for questions regarding the work set.
Key Stage 2 will no longer be setting weekly mymaths tasks, but please continue to use Times Tables Rockstars and Accelerated Reader. There will also be no weekly spelling lists for classes. Please use the spelling tasks on each of the weekly projects to support practicing specific sounds and letter patterns alongside year group common exception words.
Thank you for continuing to support you child/children with their home learning.
Spot the staff babies
It's half term so we thought you might like a fun activity to do. In the first attached document you will see pictures of 29 of our staff as babies. In the second document you will see the names of the staff. Can you match the names to the correct staff pictures? Look back here on Friday 29th May to check how many you got right. Good luck!

I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday at 11.00.

Week 8 of Home Learning
Friday 8th May
Good morning Picasso class, I hope you are all happy and well.
I got up really early and went for a lovely peaceful walk this morning, it was very quiet and there were lots of birds singing. Thank you to all of you that have emailed me in your work, I hope you have enjoyed seeing it on our class page. Well done for carrying on with AR and TT Rockstars. I have seen that many of you have completed some of the tasks set on MyMaths this week, but a special mention goes to Sydney, Maisie, Aleks, Jan, Dylan J, Finley, Filip and Borys who have completed all of this week's tasks.
I have set new ones for next week and you can always catch up on past ones.
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and I look forward to seeing you next Wednesday in our Zoom meeting. If you joined last week, I already have an email address for you and will send an invitation. It would be lovely if others would like to join us. All you need to do is send me a message through the LKS2 email.
From Mrs Palmer
After last week’s successful class Zoom meeting, I would like to offer you the opportunity to meet with me and your classmates each week using Zoom. The meetings will take place every Wednesday at 11am.
The meetings will last for about 30 minutes. There will be a different focus of each meeting. This week will be on (which is on Monday). Can we ask you to make or draw us a dragon to share and show during our meeting?
I already have many of your email addresses and will send an invitation out to you on Tuesday’s. If you haven’t emailed me already and you would like to join in with a meeting you need to ask your parents to send an email to LKS2learning.firstname.lastname@example.org I will then send them an invitation to join in. Don’t forget that the same rules apply!
At the meeting you will need to know that:
· The meeting must not be recorded.
· You will need to think carefully about where you are when you join the meeting and what you are wearing so that you are ready to meet with all of your classmates.
· Your parents need to be present in the room where you have the meeting.
· Teachers will lock the meeting once everyone has joined so that no-one can join who hasn’t been invited.
· Teachers will be able to remove or mute people who do not follow the rules.
· Parents need to read Zoom’s terms and conditions, so they are sure of what Zoom is all about.
Hopefully see you there!

Sunday 26th April
Hello Picasso class,
I hope you have all enjoyed your weekends. I have had quite a quiet weekend enjoying being outside and going for a walk. I have also planted some seeds, but I am not a very good gardener, so I hope they actually grow!
It has been so lovely to see pictures of some of your home learning and to see that you are still working hard even tough we are not in school.
Please keep emailing me and sending pictures of your home learning so that I can share them here for all of your friends to see.
Remember you can also ask me any questions of you are stuck with your learning. I will be adding more activities to mymaths for you to access from tomorrow.
Enjoy the rest of your evenings.

Week 6 of Home Learning
Finley has been working really hard creating a fictional animal called a Paradox (look at the amazing sketch) and finding lots of facts about Pangolins. Well done Finley.
Wednesday 22nd April
Hello Picasso class, I hope you are all well.
I wanted to say a big thank you to Filip and his mum for emailing me and sharing his work, it was really nice to be able to chat to him. If possible, I would very much like to hear from more of you to see the work you have been completing and to share it on our class page.
I have just checked AR, TT Rock stars and MyMaths. Well done to all of you who have accessed some of the activities and there are 16 of you who completed every activity from last week.
Well done to Jan, Dylan J, Filey and Brooke who have completed all the tasks for this week and Maisie, Aleks, Lenka, Myah, Filip, Dylan O and Borys who have made a great start on this week's activities.
For those of you who have not accessed any of the Mymaths activities, please have a go. You have been working so hard in class with your learning and need to try and continue this at home. I know it is very different having to learn at home, but you can do it! If you are having any problems please use the LKS2 email address to ask me any questions, I will answer you as quickly as I can.
Remember to keep reading and quizzing on AR, I can see that there are many children who are not logging on to AR.
I am going to take a nice walk in the sun later, so I will make sure I take some pictures to share with you.
I look forward to hearing from more of you.
Sunday 19th April
Dear Picasso class.
Good news!! We have an email address where you can send me messages about the learning you have been doing this week.
Perhaps you have a question or just want to show me something? Use this email address to get in touch! I am going to ask you to send me an email of something you have completed that you are proud of this week. Each week I'll be asking you to send me a piece of your work based on the Learning Project I am asking you to do. Can't wait to see all your work!
Here is the email address. Please put your class teacher's name in the subject.
If your parents are happy for it to be put up on this page, please ask them to give permission and hopefully we can have a collection of the work you have been doing.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Week 5 of Home Learning
Friday 17th April
Hello Picasso Class, I hope you are all well and have managed to enjoy the sunshine. Unfortunately it has disappeared today, but the plants will be happy!
I have not managed to get out today, but have found some lovely new walks near my house which I never knew existed before.
I have been keeping up to date with all of your online activities and wanted to particularly mention Maisie, Aleks, Kaden, Jan, Dylan J, Dorka, Lacey, Finley, Filip, Violet, Brooke and Borys who have completed every single activity on Mymaths. A big well done to all of you who have managed to access some of the activities and many of you have showed your perseverance and not given up, I am really proud of all of you.
Remember to keep up with AR and TT Rockstars and if you are finding any of the activities tricky and need some help, your parents are able to ask me questions through email.
Enjoy your weekends
A rainbow house to make you smile!
Wednesday 8th April
Good morning Picasso class,
I hope you are all keeping well and managing to enjoy the sunshine. I am doing a daily check in on TT Rocktars, AR and MyMaths, it is great to see how many of you are working your way through the activities; remember that the new ones start today.
I have been busy learning at home too and am taking part in lots of online learning myself. I have also managed to do some painting in my house and a little bit of baking with my son. There is a house near to me which has been completely coloured in with chalk (It has been on the news and I think it may be on Newsround soon too) I will take a picture on my next walk and share it with you. Mrs Mead has also been busy painting her fence and sorting the roof on her playhouse.
Just a reminder that Miss Lockwood has set a challenge between the Year 4 classes on TT Rockstars. Please see the scavenger hunt document I have added to our class page. There are lots of fun things you can hunt for, see how many you can find!
If you are able I would love to see some pictures of what you have found during the scavenger hunts.
