Mrs Moseley – Armstrong Class
Home Learning Update
Dear Parents/Carers,
As some children will be returning to school on June 2nd, the way home learning is being provided will be changing due to most staff working with children in school.
Home learning projects will continue to be uploaded to the school website on a weekly basis and will now be for specific key stages, rather than year groups: Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2), Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4) and Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 and 6).
Instead of logging onto a specific class page to access the home learning, you will now need to go to the Children menu on the website – Home Learning Projects and select the relevant key stage for your child.
We will continue to use the key stage email addresses, but these may not be answered from your child’s teacher. The following teachers will respond to the emails:
Reception and Year 1 and 2 - Miss White
Year 3 and 4 - Mrs Palmer (Mr Staveley will continue to respond to any Nightingale emails)
Year 5 and 6 - Mr Staveley
It has been lovely to receive some of the children’s work, but we now ask that the home learning email addresses are no longer used for sending in children’s work. The named teachers will be available only for questions regarding the work set.
Key Stage 2 will no longer be setting weekly mymaths tasks, but please continue to use Times Tables Rockstars and Accelerated Reader. There will also be no weekly spelling lists for classes. Please use the spelling tasks on each of the weekly projects to support practicing specific sounds and letter patterns alongside year group common exception words.
Thank you for continuing to support you child/children with their home learning.
Many thanks
Spot the staff babies
It's half term so we thought you might like a fun activity to do. In the first attached document you will see pictures of 29 of our staff as babies. In the second document you will see the names of the staff. Can you match the names to the correct staff pictures? Look back here on Friday 29th May to check how many you got right. Good luck!

Hello Armstrong class
I hope you have all had a good week. Thank you so much for sending me pictures of your work that you have been doing, I have really enjoyed looking at them.
Next week is half term! It's time for you to have a break and rest, so, there will be no home learning or spellings for you to do. There will be no Zoom during half term either.
Enjoy half term and stay safe.

Hello Armstrong class.
How is everyone? I can see from all of your fabulous pictures you have been sending me that you have been quite busy. Keep up all your hard work everyone. There are lots of interesting things to be getting on with this week. Well done to all of you have been doing Accelerated Reader, Time Tables Rock Stars and My Maths as it is really important to keep up these skills. When you are on the school website, click on the 'Coronavirus Support' tab, then 'Learning Support', you will see there are Maths and English areas where you can find lots of really useful resources - have a go!
I'm looking forward to our Zoom meeting again on Tuesday 19th May, it will be great to see all of you. If you haven't yet been part of a Zoom meeting, please send an email to LKS2learning.sbp@educ.somerset.gov.uk and I will send you the invitation. I need to let you know that there will be NO Zoom meeting or Home Learning during half term.
Take care and stay safe everyone.

Zooming news!
After last week’s successful class Zoom meeting, I would like to offer you the opportunity to meet with me and your classmates each week using Zoom. The meetings will take place every Tuesday at 2pm.
The meetings will last for about 30 minutes. There will be a different focus of each meeting. This week will be on Somerset Day (which is on Monday). Can we ask you to make or draw us a dragon to share and show during our meeting?
I already have many of your email addresses and will send an invitation out to you on Monday’s. If you haven’t emailed me already and you would like to join in with a meeting you need to ask your parents to send an email to LKS2learning.sbp@educ.somerset.gov.uk I will then send them an invitation to join in. Don’t forget that the same rules apply!
At the meeting you will need to know that:
· The meeting must not be recorded.
· You will need to think carefully about where you are when you join the meeting and what you are wearing so that you are ready to meet with all of your classmates.
· Your parents need to be present in the room where you have the meeting.
· Teachers will lock the meeting once everyone has joined so that no-one can join who hasn’t been invited.
· Teachers will be able to remove or mute people who do not follow the rules.
· Parents need to read Zoom’s terms and conditions, so they are sure of what Zoom is all about.
Hopefully see you there!

Hi Armstrong class, 10.5.20
I hope you have all been safe and well during this past week. We had some fantastic weather this last week, I hope you managed to enjoy the sun.
I've uploaded week 8's Learning Project for you. It's all about food, I hope you enjoy it. I can see that lots of you have been on TTRockstars again this week, well done all of you who have had a go. When you go on TTRockstars this week I need you to go 'battle' at the top of the page. Miss Anderson has challenged the whole of Key Stage 2 to a times tables battle - that includes Upper Key Stage 2 too! Let's show them what Year 3 can do!
I'm really looking forward to our Zoom meeting on Tuesday, don't forget to draw or make a dragon for Somerset Day, if you are not sure what I mean, look at 'Zooming News!
See you on Tuesday at 2pm.

Hi Armstrong class,
If we were in school, the holidays would be over and we would be starting the summer term already! There is still lots of learning to do even though we cannot meet and learn together. I have uploaded our week 5 Learning Project and the weekly spellings but I would just like to direct parents to some other useful learning activities. If you go to the school website then click on the Coronavirus Support tab, then click on the blue Learning Support flower you will see lots more links for you to explore. It's worth scrolling down too as the page is quite long!
I hope you have a good week and I'm looking forward to seeing lots of your work. I would like to post your work on the class web page, so don't forget to send me a piece of work you are proud of.
Remember to stay safe and keep your distance.

Well done to the following children for keeping up with quizzing on Accelerate Reader, Tegan, Tobi, Luke, Emmie, Daisy, Emilia and Maria. Keep up your good work.
Stay safe everyone.

The children have been using software called ‘Scratch.’ They had to program the character to perform a sequence of moves and interact with other characters. They all did a fantastic job helping and supporting each other to achieve the learning objective.
The children have been listening to some of Bob Marley's Reggae music. The played xylophones and recorders to accompany the music. We have some budding musicians in class!
Thank you to all the parents who came to look in their child’s book. The children thoroughly enjoyed showing off their work.
What fantastic team work in Year 3!
The children worked together to build a Lego Mindstorm robot. They had to follow the Lego instructions very carefully, which was much trickier than they thought. However, they did an amazing job and managed to program their robot through software on a tablet. Great work Year 3.
