What a fantastic start to the academic year!  The children have settled very well into Lower Key Stage 2, they have started learning all about the Romans and are looking forward to learning all about Roman life.
The children have been learning how to write a 'Defeating the monster' story.  After learning what the features of this style of writing are, they wrote their own story and published it by making their own book.
What a fantastic time the children have had learning all about volcanoes and earthquakes.  They have been very interested to learn about tectonic plates, how earthquakes happen and volcanoes are formed.  We even had our own volcano safety drill in class!
Lego Mindstorm

What fantastic team work in Year 3!

The children worked together to build a Lego Mindstorm robot.  They had to follow the Lego instructions very carefully, which was much trickier than they thought.  However, they did an amazing job and managed to program their robot through software on a tablet.  Great work Year 3.

Sports Festival at Robert Blake
The children had a fantastic time when they went to Robert Blake School to take part in a Sports Festival.  Not only did they enjoy all the activities, they also learnt about how their body reacts to exercise and how to make healthy food choices.  Well done Year 3.

The Romans

Battle Formation
Designing a Roman Shield
To prepare for our Roman re-enactment the children designed a Roman Shield thinking carefully about the design on the front.  The colour red was the symbol of Mars.  The lightening bolts signify Jupiter.
