The summer holidays are a great time to take off to new places , escape to a faraway land and meet some new friends - all from the comfort of your own home. Reading gives children the opportunity to improve their reading fluency , expand their vocabulary and learn more about the world around them. The Summer Reading Challenge gives children all this and more for free!  This year, we will be rewarding  ALL children who complete the challenge, with a book of their choice to keep. Just bring your certificate  back to school in September to claim your prize.

Well done to those of you who have already signed up to this year's challenge. It's not too late - you can still sign up now to get reading over the summer holiday. Help on how to sign up can be found on an additional document below. Get involved and enjoy all your reading adventures!

Friday 10th July

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well.  I wanted to say a big well done to all of you for engaging with your home learning over the past couple of months, I am really proud of you!

Please find you final home learning project below.  For the final week, the learning project is all about transition and thinking about your achievements and goals.

I hope you all enjoy it and remember to keep sending me pictures of what you have been doing.

Please look below the learning project to see the information regarding your zoom meetings next week.

Enjoy your weekend.

Mrs Palmer

Final Class Zoom sessions

The final class zoom sessions for the year will take place next week (w/b 13/7/20.) This is a chance for the children to say ‘goodbye’ to each other and their teacher before the summer break and to meet their new teacher.

We would like to give as many children as possible the opportunity to attend. Invitations will be sent to regular attenders as normal but if you would like to join in, you can request an invitation through the key stage e mails.

Some classes have made a slight change to their usual times – please see below:

DiCaprio class Zoom - MONDAY 3:20-3:50

Hillary Class Zoom – TUESDAY 3:15-3:45

Armstrong class Zoom – WEDNESDAY 3:45-4:15

Windsor class Zoom – THURSDAY 2:45-3:15

We hope to see you there!

As we approach the end of the school year, we would like to collect back into school any reading books you may still have lingering at home. If you have any books borrowed from our school library or books that your child has used from our reading scheme or Accelerated Reader, please bring them back to school before the end of term . There is no need to come into school; there will be a book drop box positioned outside the school office.
Please can you add a note inside with your child's name on so we can check off the returns we receive.
We  thank you for your help with this.

Somerset Bridge Virtual Sports Day 2020!

Sports Day, for many of you, is one of the most exciting days in the school year. This year, with no actual Sports Day possible, we wanted to give you the opportunity to take part in a very exciting and special event.

Starting this Monday 29th June, we invite you to join in our first ever Virtual Sports Day! There are eight brilliant events for you all to take part in. From Reception to Year 6, inside or outside, at home or in school, everyone can take part and like a normal Sports Day, you are competing in your houses!

You have until Friday 3rd July to submit your scores via your phase email. We will collect all the scores and announce the winning house via the ‘Home Learning Project’ page on the school website.

Please see the sheet below for more information and the all-important score sheet. There are also some great videos showing how to do each event.

We can’t wait to see and hear how you have got on!

Good luck, have fun and may the best house win,

Mr Staveley, Mr Croker & Mr Birch

Last week, we asked you to send in your work on a specific day. From now on, you can send it to us when you have finished it, whenever you like! We really want to see what more of you have been doing at home. At home, you should be:

·         Reading and quizzing on Accelerated Reader everyday

·         Practising your spellings

·         Practising the grammar activities

·         Getting creative

The Learning Projects on the school website are there to engage you in this learning at home. We expect to see something from everyone in our classes, sent in to the key stage learning e mail address each week. Send something you have done at home to us when you have finished it. We will reply and upload your work to the school website. Please include the class name and year group in the subject of your email. If you do not give permission for your child’s picture to be on the school website, please let us know.

Send your work to Miss White here:

We look forward to hearing from you!

Friday 12th June

Dear parents/carers,

I hope everyone is well, keeping safe and managing to access the home learning.  I know that many LKS2 children are missing the additional math's activities on MyMaths, so I will be uploading additional math's lessons each week.

The below sheets will provide a progression of 5 lessons based upon the same theme and there is a link to take you to each one.  Each lesson has an initial quiz, a video to watch, a worksheet to complete and a final quiz.  Each Friday, I will upload the next 5 lessons so please don't whiz ahead!

If you have any questions about the additional math's lessons, please do not hesitate to ask.

Many thanks

Mrs Palmer
