Summer Term 2022

Topic

Art & Design

Our Topic theme this term is The Romans and in Art we have been learning about how the Roman's made elaborate mosaics out of small tiles. We studied a range of designs to give the children ideas and they planned and made their own mosaics. The results looked stunning and colourful.

English

In English we use the Talk for Writing approach and immerse ourselves in a story to help us learn the story structure and to help the children be able to adapt and retell the story. We have been learning the story of Where the Wild Things Are and the children loved making their monster masks.

We have been learning about the Easter story in our English lessons and the children made some fantastic storyboards depicting the different parts of the story.

World Book Day 2022

The children had a great day dressing up as an animal, plant or their favourite book characters.  We had lots of fun creating book reviews, creating bookmarks and reading stories and reading stories together.

Trip to the Brick and Tile Museum

The children have a fun time on our trip to the Brick and Tile Museum. They learned about how bricks were made, how big the industry was at the time and then really enjoyed making there own clay tile.

Autumn 2021

The children have been deepening their understanding of Place Value using dienes blocks and counters. An more recently we have been looking at the different strategies we can use to add and subtract.
