Bobby Moore – Mrs Smith/Mrs Bell
Welcome to Bobby Moore Class
We have decided to call our class Bobby Moore Class. This name came from a list of inspirational sports personalities. Mrs Smith, Mrs Bell and Miss Watkins welcome you all to Year 4 and are looking forward to an exciting year ahead.
Summer Term
Egyptian Adventures
This term, we were visited by the South West Heritage Trust to do some fun activities while learning about Ancient Egypt for our topic. We painted a Scarab Beetle, made some Date Bread and also excavated some Ancient Egyptian Artefacts!

Science
What makes a thing living?
We recently recapped on a unit about living things. Do you remember MRS GREN?
French
In French we have been learning about how to introduce ourselves, say hello and recapped on our numbers. Recently we have learnt how to name objects in the classroom. We enjoyed consolidating the new vocabulary through a game of pairs.

Spring Term 2022
Computing
In computing we have just used the Lego Mindstorms. Ask your child to tell you how they built their robot and what they had to do to get it to move.

British Science Week
As a celebration of British Science Week, we were lucky enough to have a company come and join us in school to conduct some 'silly' experiments. We met Professor Silly Nitrate. The children had lots of fun and learnt about what happens to the pressurised gas in our bodies, science safety, forces and the fire triangle.

P.E.
We were lucky enough to get some extra P.E. sessions recently. The sports coaches got the table tennis tables out. Lots of fun!

Trip to Burnham on Sea
As you know we go to Burnham on Sea every week for our swimming lessons. On Thursday 10th March we also took this opportunity to go exploring on the beach.

English
In English we have been using the story of George's Marvellous Medicine to inspire our own stories. We always start each new unit with a hook. Our hooks are fun and exciting and engage us with the content of the unit. For this unit we made our own potions. Ask your child what they put inside!!!
Autumn Term 2021
Computing
Last week we created Powerpoint Presentations on Bobby Moore.
Maths
In Maths, we have been looking at exchanging and regrouping. Can you show an example to an adult at home? Remember to use column addition and subtraction and your knowledge on place value.
Black History Month
October is Black History Month. Our focus this year was on racism. The children already had a wealth of knowledge on inspirational figures from the past, so this year we looked at black inspirational people from the modern day. The BBC has a great BHM website. On it are some short video clips that we used in class. These explore the experiences and contributions of people from communities across the UK.
Trip to Wookey Hole Caves
On Wednesday 13th October we visited Wookey Hole Caves. We were very lucky to have a tour guide who showed us around the caves. We learnt a lot about the history of the caves and local area.
HISTORY 09.11.21
This week we moved onto learning about the Bronze Age. We made round houses.

DT/History wb 15.11.21
This week we made the famous Stone Henge from both card and clay.

Graffiti Art
15/12/21
This week we have been learning about Graffiti and Street Art as part of our Stone Age Topic - linked to Cave Painting which was the earliest form of Graffiti/Art known to man. We looked at the work of Keith Haring and created our own cartoon style mural for the classroom.
