We are Margaret Hamilton Class!

Margaret Hamilton was one of the first people to create software for computers. 

Hamilton worked on the software that helped send the astronauts to the Moon during the Apollo 11 missions in the 1960s and 1970s.

Margaret Hamilton and her team were the first to create software specifically for space travel. It was very complicated as computers were not as advanced then as they are now. Hamilton and her team had to be very creative.

Hamilton’s software helped to save the astronauts during the Apollo 11 mission when there was a problem with their landing gear. She helped them land safely on the Moon.

Hamilton was the first woman to receive the NASA Exceptional Space Act 10 Award. This was given to her for her exceptional work on the Apollo missions.
