The School Day and Term Dates

The School Day

Our School Day starts at 8:45am and finishes at 3.10pm in Reception (31.25 hours per week),  3:15pm in Key Stage 1 (32.5 hours per week) and 3:20pm in Key Stage 2 (32.9 hours per week).

Please refer to our Attendance page to find out how to let the School know if your child is going to be late or is not going to be in school.

There is no supervision at school before 8.45am or after 3.15pm for KS1 children and 3.20pm for KS2 children, unless children are in planned after-school activities or clubs.

Late/Non-collection of Children

We ask that you arrange for your child to be collected promptly after school, or after their organised club or activity.   If you are going to be late please contact the School Office as soon as possible on 01278 422100 to let us know.  We will only release your child to yourself, your emergency contacts or those individuals aged over 16 identified on your child’s ‘Authority to Collect’ form.  Please ensure that the school has up to date contact information so that we can contact you in the event that your child isn’t collected on time.

If your child isn’t collected on time our office staff will:

  • Check for any messages about delays or changes to collection arrangements;
  • Attempt to contact a parent/carer or other identified emergency contact.

If unsuccessful and a child is still not collected after 30 minutes a concern will be raised with the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead who will follow safeguarding procedures which could involve notifying the police, children’s social care or the local safeguarding team.

In the event of persistent late or non-collection of a child the School will, on the:

  • First occasion: issue a verbal reminder of the requirement to collect children on time;
  • Second occasion: issue a written invitation to the parent/carer to meet with the Deputy Headteacher/Headteacher to discuss:
    • The reasons behind the late collection;
    • Potential solutions and any support the School can provide;
    • Referral to support services;
    • Any safeguarding concerns.
  • Subsequent occasions: issue a charge to parents/carers for each instance of late or non-collection, and refer to social services if issues persist.

Charges for late collection are set out in our Charging & Remissions Policy. Charging and Remissions Policy
