Mrs Turner

Summer Term 2018.

SATS are over!  We all did a fantastic job during our SATS week.  We enjoyed coming in early to have breakfast and had great fun celebrating on Friday when they had finished, by going to the cinema and then on to our party at Reflections.

We also received a second e-mail from Liz Pichon herself!  Here it is:

Hi there!

What a lovely email to get!

I did forward it to my publishers so I'm not sure if they contacted you or not?

But thank you for letting me know.

All the very best

We have been busy making items to sell at the Summer Fair, such as packets of wild seeds, and we have been decorating plant pots and filling them with cacti.

Spring Term 2018.

World Book Day:  We enjoyed finding out all about our class author, Liz Pichon, and made a book all about her Tom Gates books.  We also received some very exciting news:  we e-mailed Liz Pichon and we received a reply!

Here are some pictures of our great costumes and of us sharing some stories with a Year 2 class.

Swimming Lessons.

We have now finished our swimming lessons at Burnham-On-Sea swimming pool, which we have really enjoyed.  We all made great progress and most of us managed to swim 25m by the end of it, which was a brilliant achievement for those of us who couldn't do this at the start of the sessions.  After our last lesson, we all went to look at the seafront and beach as it was a beautiful day.

December 2017.

On the 6th December, we went to a STEM (Science Engineering Technology and Maths) Festival at Bridgwater College, where we discovered what exciting engineering jobs we could do in the future.  Here are some of the activities we took part in:

November 2017.

The theme this year for Children In Need was:  "All different; all equal".  On Monday 13th we had "Odd Socks" day and here is a photo of those who took part.  We have also been talking about "Anti-bullying Week" and have been practising the song "Refuge" to sing in an assembly.

We collected an amazing amount of 1 and 2p coins for Children In Need and managed to fill 10 Pudsey Bear pictures, which was the winning amount:

October 2017.

We had a brilliant time exploring Lydford Gorge and looking at all the river features and landforms at this beautiful location.  We completed a 3 mile circular walk and had a picnic at While Lady Falls.

September 2017.

Welcome to Pichon Class!

We have all made an excellent start to Year 6 and have come back to school ready to face any new challenges.  This year we are the Pichon class after we voted to have Liz Pichon as our class author as so many of us enjoy reading her Tom Gates series of books.  Here is a collage that we produced when we did some artwork inspired by the illustrations in her books.

So far this term, we have been doing some PSHE and DT in our afternoon Topic lessons.  In one lesson we had to see if we could make an arch bridge out of paper blocks- which was very challenging.  Well done to one group who managed to make it stand up!
